Class Description

Painting with Alcohol Inks 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Fridays March 14, 21, 28 (3-week session) Limited to 8 participants McKinney artist, Karren Case, invites you to discover creating art with vibrant, versatile, alcohol inks. During this three-week comprehensive course, you will learn how to paint using this medium. Karren will teach you how to work with colors and with the unexpected flow of the inks on both tiles and specialty paper. You’ll start with abstract florals and abstract landscapes using simple tools as you drip, splatter, and let your inks run. As you advance through the course, you will learn techniques to control your inks using brushes and brush techniques. You will be “painting” with this wonderful medium! At the end of the course, you will go home with a vibrant 8x10 painted piece of art that you will be proud to display in your home. Week 1: Colors and Flow on tiles. Take home your tile artwork! Week 2: Colors and Flow con't on Yupo art papers and learn how to control the inks using brushes. Take home artwork on several sizes of paper. Week 3: We’re Painting Now! In this final class, you will be painting your choice of a landscape or still-life using brushes with some of the tools from the preceding classes on an 8x10 piece of Yupo art paper. However, before you jump into your final piece of art we will take some time to discuss and explore several art concepts that will help you develop this painting and your paintings going forward. About Karren Karren Case is a member and studio artist at LAST Art Gallery in downtown McKinney. Her art experience includes watercolors, acrylics, oils, alcohol inks. Her current passion is painting with oils and cold wax using palette knives. She is a member of the Art Club of McKinney and the McKinney Plein Air Society.
